Dragflow, an Italian manufacturer of dredging equipment specialized in solid pumping solutions, has been very busy in the last six months seeing excellent business growth and substantial product development.

The company also moved its headquarters to a larger, bigger space where they will continue to create and innovate.

“ We are growing big, but always keeping the same goal: find new technological solutions for improving and satisfy customers’ needs, ” said Elisa Innocenti, Marketing Manager at Dragflow.

Dragflow’s achievements in 2015 include:

Customized Dredging Tool for Sand Extraction

Dragflow has designed a customized solution for a contractor from the oil and gas industry. The challenge was to remove sand from the seabed uncovering oil pipes, to allow proper maintenance, and finish the job by covering the pipes with sand.

They designed and built a system that includes two Hydraulic Pumps (model HY85) attached to a steel frame with a protective shield. This shield will cover the pipe of approximately 1 m diameter.

This symmetrical and reversible system uses a special version of their classic HY85 pump, modified for increased performance. The solution is unique and can be used in different ways according to specific needs.

Dam Cleaning Dredging

In this dam cleaning project, Dragflow’s Environmental High Depth System operated at depths of 50+ meters, cleaning an area of 30,000 m³ with clay and alluvium material.

Three hydraulic pumps (HY85/160B) and excavators with dredging capacity up to 1.400 m³ per day were used in the project.

Their High Depth Systems, powered by hydraulic power packs or generators, can operate as deep as 300 meters and include hydraulic or electric pumps, hydraulic or electric cutters, high-pressure water jets and Anti-turbidity bells.

The design of the High Depth System prevents contamination.

Dredging Pumps for Suez Canal

Dragflow has supplied two high head dredging pumps (HY85B) with two excavators (EXHY20) for one of the biggest contractors working in the tunneling part of the Suez Canal Development Project.

Working depth of these pumps is 44 meter.

Six tunnels will be built, including the Ismailia tunnel, which will pass through the Suez Canal channel, to connect the two eastern and western canal banks. The project will also entail the construction of a tunnel south of Port Said under the Suez Canal to easily connect the two areas east and west of the Suez Canal.

Dredging River for Mineral Extraction

Dragflow has supplied a new dredger (DRH85/160E22DFHD) to Central Africa for mineral extraction from a river.

Since dredging depth is about 50 meters, the dredger is provided with an Hydraulic spooler with umbilical, for recovering the set of oil hoses feeding pump plus cutters.

An important characteristic of this dredger is that the hose reel is not in the front of the dredger, as usual, but between the power pack and the operator cabin, so the operator can have a better view.

Beach Reclamation

Dragflow has supplied its new Cutterhead (DTM85), a custom engineered system, with hydraulic pump (HY85HC) for a beach reclamation project in Bibione, Italy.

Dragflow’s dredging specialists carefully analyze customer requirements and operating conditions to achieve the design criteria – cutter profile, size, beta, arm quantity and shape, tooth size, tooth orientation.

The combination of the Cutterhead with the agitator avoids any clogging problem at the pump suction.
