Dredge Yard, a supplier of dredging and mining components, equipment and technologies, took part in the WEDA Dredging Summit and Expo, held from June 22-25, 2015 at the Westin Galleria in Houston.

The event hosted numerous technical sessions and gave the opportunity for all the leading organizations in dredging and port industry, dredging contractors and experts in environmental issues to exchange the knowledge in fields related to dredging, marine, engineering and environment.

Dredge Yard’s technical paper was about how companies can maximize their potential by converting or upgrading existing dredgers.

Basel Yousef, Dredge Yard’s CEO , said: “ New technologies are being developed more rapidly than ever before, thus providing a constant stream of new solutions and options for users, enabling them to become even more efficient and meet the ever growing demands of our industry. The modification, conversion and upgrading of existing dredgers are proving to be good solutions for users to increase their capacity and capabilities with a reasonable amount of investment.”

The Summit had an outstanding program with many opportunities to connect with others in the dredging and maritime industry during reception, site tours and other event functions.

Iulia Berchiu, Markering Manager of Dredge Yard , added: “ We were very excited to hear that WEDA will take place this year in Houston. The city is well known as a world capital of oil and gas industry and the Port of Houston ranks first in the United States in international waterborne tonnage handled and second in total cargo tonnage handled. “

The event concluded with a technical tour by visiting Houston Ship Channel, one of the busiest waterways in the United States.
