State Representative Jim Buchy has voted in support of Amended Substitute House Bill 64, the state operating budget.
In an effort to drive business to Ohio and continue the significant economical success the state has experienced over the last few years, the final budget proposal cuts taxes by a total of more than $1.8 billion over the next two years and includes an across-the-board 6.3 percent income tax decrease.
“ The tax policies in this budget keep Ohio moving on a path toward keeping more money in the hands of Ohio’s families and small businesses, ” Buchy said.
The biennial budget included a number of provisions impacting west central Ohio. Specifically, it includes $1.5 million in funding for dredging at Grand Lake St. Marys.
In addition, the state law has been changed to ensure that a farmer who allows the state to place dredging material on his land will still qualify to receive CAUV.
The budget also set in place the plan to transfer soil and water management from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to the Ohio Department of Agriculture, allowing staff to be more nimble and responsive when there are threats to Ohio’s waterways.
