Although it is still dry season, the city administration is accelerating the dredging works on the Jakarta waterways, according to TEMPO.CO.
The rivers, reservoirs and water channels dredging operations are being carried out as an anticipation strategy of flood threat during rainy season, said Jakarta Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat.
“ Dry season is the right time to conduct dredging optimally. It must be done deeply to accommodate more water ,” Hidayat said.
The Jakarta Water Management Department will send a lot of heavy equipment to continue this dredging work in the upcoming months, concluded Hidayat.
