The Mississippi River Commission (MRC) will host a public hearing on August 14 at the Cape Girardeau, Missouri Riverfront, aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI. The hearing is open to the public and scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
Part of their annual low-water inspection trip, the Commission holds public hearings to gain insight into local, state and regional concerns and allow the public a greater voice in shaping federal policy in the Mississippi River Watershed.
Additionally, the interaction with the public, congressional, federal and state interests, local boards and non-government organizations is crucial to the decision-making process of the MRC.
Local interests are invited to present their views and concerns on matters affecting the water resources infrastructure needs in the Mississippi Valley, including flood control and the Mississippi River and Tributaries project, environmental issues, recreation, navigation and others.
