The Port of Redwood City will hold a public hearing on Monday, August 10, at 7 PM on a draft study and environmental analysis of its planned harbor dredging project.
The South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project is one of the sites under consideration to receive the dredged sediments.
The deadline to comment on the report is August 24, 2015. This meeting will be held at Redwood City Hall at 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City.
About the project
The South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project is considering accepting dredge soils from the Port at the Eden Landing and Alviso ponds in order to build uplands as refuge habitat for marsh species during high tides, and to fill subsided ponds so salt marshes can be created in advance of sea level rise.
The Port of Redwood City’s environmental impact report (EIR) covers transporting dredge sediments to the Project ponds.
If the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project chooses to pursue this path, the Eden Landing Phase 2 draft supplemental environmental impact report, expected to be released in 2016, would analyze the impacts of accepting and placing the dredge materials at the Eden Landing ponds.
