The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has begun demolition work along the Absecon Inlet in the northern end of Atlantic City.
USACE and its contractor are building a sections of a seawall and rebuilding a part of the boardwalk in partnership with the state and city.
The $43 million project will provides flood and coastal storm damage reduction along Absecon Inlet.
Phase one of the project includes construction of a seawall and Boardwalk from Oriental Avenue to Melrose Avenue. The completion of the phase 1 has been set for late 2016.
The second phase of the project will begin later this year and should end in about a year. The work on the phase three will start next spring and is expected to be finished by summer 2017.
