The Larkspur Ferry Terminal dredging project is ramping up operations, according to the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District.
Due to environmental restrictions, dredging within a 250-foot buffer of the marshlands near the berths and turning basin was not allowed to begin until September 1.
Now that this window has opened, the contractor will be mobilizing a second dredging crew in this area.
The work within the berths and turning basin is restricted to between the hours of 8:30 am and 4 pm to minimize impacts to ferry operations. The contractor is continuing work in the channel around the clock.
The dredging work is expected to be complete by November 30th.

The Larkspur Ferry Terminal requires regular rounds of maintenance dredging to restore navigation depth in its four berths, an adjacent turning basin, and 2-mile-long approach channel.
The Ferry Terminal is very active with vessel traffic and services commuters to San Francisco; all of these factors need to be considered while dredging.
Access to dredge areas near the four berths also requires removal of existing float systems.
