Solent Refit recently completed building its own dredger and she is ready now to begin the dredging program to provide deep water berths for superyachts visiting the area.

The company’s 14 secure full-service berths will be capable of housing superyachts up to 120m.

“ We have always had berths big enough for very large vessel s,” said MD Allan Foot . “ We have huge floating pontoons on the outer wall of the harbor, but until now we haven’t had the water depth. ”

He explained that over the last six months, rather than buying or renting a dredger Solent Refit decided to build its own from a salvaged barge. The dredger named Solent Hopper is in the water and ready for the dredging of deep water berths.

“ Now we will be dredging the whole site and our licenses allow us to go down to five meters,” said Allan Foot.

Solent Refit occupies over 20,000 square meters in Southampton Water and has a 1500 ton horizontal lift capable of hauling vessels up to 60 meters which feeds 10,000sq m of undercover refit halls for the refit and repair of large luxury yachts with easy vessel movement achieved on a massive powered rail system.
