Works to remove a silt build-up at the Clump Point boat ramp will be carried out this week just in time for a bumper summer season on Queensland’s waterways.
Main Roads, Road Safety and Ports Minister, Mark Bailey , said that the Transport and Main Roads would carry out the works, taking advantage of the low tides and allowing the works to be completed as quickly as possible.
“ The Palaszczuk Government understands the importance of providing and maintaining facilities for recreational boaties, ” Mr Bailey said.
“ We’ve committed more than $30 million in upgrading boating facilities across the state under the Marine Infrastructure fund.
“The silt build up at Clump Point boat ramp has affected accessibility and we want to remove it as quickly as possible.
“Once the silt is gone, boaties will be able to enjoy full access to the ramp and take advantage of being so close to the Great Barrier Reef. ”
Mr Bailey said that the boaties will still be able to access the boat ramp and carpark during the works, there are also many other available ramps in the area.
