Delegation of the Dhaka Water Supply & Sewerage Authority (DWASA) was in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, last week to see how the Dutch are performing similar mechanical dredging methods to the ones that are used in Dhaka.
The delegation, including Mr Abul Kashem, Chief Engineer DWASA, Md Nurul Islam, PD UDDP, Superintending Engineer Drainage (E&M) Division DWASA and Md Atikur Rahman, Executive Engineer Drainage (E&M) Division DWASA, was hosted by the Dutch Water and Sewerage utility, the Waternet.
During the visit, they were also invited by Vitens Evides International (VEI) to join their program connected to the Amsterdam International Water Week (AIWW) conference.
After a presentation that was made by Md Nurul about DWASA and the Urban Dredging Demonstration Project, the delegation was invited to see the actual dredging of the Amsterdam canals.
