The Kiasma Group, an Italian dredging pipeline manufacturer, has added a range of solar panels to its HDPE pipelines.

This means that photovoltaic energy can be generated by panels fixed to the discharge lines used in the dredging industry.

Kiasma describes the photovoltaic panels as flexibile and light and of a highly efficient design.

They are functional, resistant to impact, mechanical stress and weathering, and can be made to fit curves. They have been tested under extreme conditions, and are ISO9001 certified for quality, ISO 18001 certified for safety and ISO 14000 for the environment.

The connectors and cables from the panels are designed to work in sea water and in the presence of waves.
