Comments on a proposed Trinity River channel improvement project will be accepted in a public meeting set for Wednesday, December 2, in Lewiston, CA.
Staff from the Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control board will present information about the project proposed for construction next year on BLM-managed public land and private land in Lewiston.
Part of the Trinity River Restoration Program, the project is planned for about 110 acres near the Bucktail river access area. It would include construction of side channels and wetland complexes to improve habitat for juvenile salmon and steelhead.
The project would reconnect the floodplain with the Trinity River. Native plants will be used and wood and rock structure would be built to create and maintain habitat.
