The dredging operations to remove silt from the entrance to Modern Venice, also known as “the Fingers”, are in full swing, according to the City of Port Isabel.

The works will occur 24 hours a day and while dredging operations are underway, boaters are urged to use caution, said Interim City Manager Jared Hockema.

The U.S. Army Corps Engineers has delegated the work to a private contractor.

Approximately 30,000 cubic yards of dredge material will be hydraulically removed with a floating pipeline marked with lighted orange or yellow buoys.

Dredging operations at the Port Isabel Fingers will be completed by the end of November.
