The Defense Infrastructure Organisation submitted an application to the Marine Management Organisation in August 2015 for a marine licence to undertake navigational maintenance dredging in and adjacent to Her Majesty’s Naval Base (HMNB) Devonport, Plymouth.
The application, submitted on behalf of the Ministry of Defense, includes disposal of the dredged material at the Rame Head South disposal site during two dredge and disposal campaigns, taking place over a maximum fourteen month period.
The MMO has now validated the application and is ready to consult on the proposed project.
“ Consultees should note that whilst the current application stipulates that disposal of dredged material will be to Rame Head South, the MMO is leading a characterization study with users of the Rame Head disposal site to identify a sustainable longer term site for disposal of dredged material ,” they said in an announcement.
