The Port of Seattle has completed an environmental analysis, including review of pertinent and available environmental information and preparation of an Environmental Checklist, for the East Waterway Maintenance Dredging Program.
The proposal includes a 10-year programmatic authorization to conduct routine maintenance dredging as necessary to maintain previously established navigational and berthing depths within the East Waterway.
The East Waterway Maintenance Dredging Program is intended to ensure that previously permitted operational elevations in the EW are effectively maintained to address customer needs.
To accommodate ongoing maintenance activities associated with the East Waterway Maintenance Dredging Program, the Port is requesting a 10-year authorization for the project.
This approach will promote comprehensive management of operational elevations within the EW, allow the Port flexibility to respond quickly to tenant lease maintenance obligations and reduce environmental impacts.
Site Location
The proposed East Waterway Maintenance Dredging Program includes aquatic areas south of the Downtown Seattle Central Waterfront District, east of Harbor Island, and north of the Spokane Street Bridge.
The project includes berth areas associated with several Port of Seattle facilities, including Terminals 46, 30, 25, and 18, as well as Slip 27 and portions of the federal navigation channel.
