The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, has just released an updated schedule for the Long Beach Island beach replenishment scheme.
The Army Corps’ contractor, Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company, mobilized two dredges, the Padre Island and the Dodge Island, for this bechfill program, which is a joint effort between the Corps and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
It is designed to reduce storm damages from future events and is 100 percent funded by the 2013 Disaster Relief Appropriations Act (PL113-2), commonly known as the Hurricane Sandy Relief Bill.
Schedule Details
Area 4 (Previously constructed beachfill at Selfridge/57th to Nebraska Avenue in Long Beach Township)
Area 2 (North Beach & Surf City – previously constructed portion at Harvey Cedars to previously constructed portion at Surf City)
Area 6 (Beach Haven and south to limits of project at Holgate)
Area 1 (Northern limits of project – Seaview Drive South in Loveladies to previously construction section at Harvey Cedars)
