Crews are working on a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to improve the channel between Lake Jackson and Little Lake Jackson in Sebring.

This development program, undertaken by the contractor Douglas N. Higgins, Inc., includes the channel dredging operations, debris removal, rip-rap replacement, etc.

Starting Monday, December 21, 2015, the contractor will temporarily close the channel between Lake Jackson and Little Lake Jackson for boater safety and protection of the bridge during work on the channel.

Boats on Little Lake Jackson will not have access to a boat ramp when the channel is closed, FDOT said.

The completion of this project is scheduled for spring 2016, at a cost of $826,000.
