The International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) is interested in hosting more conferences in the future following the success of its 50th Anniversary Conference, “ From Birth to Boom: Asian Maritime Megastructures ”.
The conference which was held at the Island Shangri-La Hotel in Hong Kong on October 23, 2015 was attended by 130 top-level executives from a range of industries from across the globe. It also featured notable speakers including keynoter, Robert D. Kaplan, author and thought leader on foreign affairs, who spoke on “ The Maritime Future of Geopolitics ”.
René Kolman, Secretary General, IADC : “ It was a big success. This was the first time that senior management of dredging companies met with such a large group of clients and sponsors.”
He added that sponsors had commented that the conference was well-organised and had good content and speeches.
According to Kolman, IADC could also be hosting similar conferences in the future. “ I have proposed to the IADC board to organize such a conference every three years,” he said.
The IADC board will consider these conferences depending on the location and topics.
