Cashmere developer George Valison has successfully restored the shoreline of Mission Creek.
This fall, native plantings were installed in the bio-engineered shoreline restoration design, completing requirements of a 2014 settlement with the Washington Department of Ecology. A rock retaining wall also was removed as part of the restoration project.
“ We’re appreciative of the timeliness in which Mr. Valison has completed the restoration work ,” said Gary Graff, Shorelands and Environmental Assistance Program manager with Ecology in the Central Region . “ Mission Creek is an important tributary of the Wenatchee River. The restoration will help reduce flooding and further erosion, improving flows for fish, and creates beneficial habitat.”
Valison, developer of Quail Lane Development LLC, hired a local consulting firm, Grette Associates LLC to obtain appropriate local, state and federal permits to conduct shoreline and in-water work necessary to restore the shoreline of Mission Creek.
Grette Associates LLC obtained the necessary permits and worked with permitting agencies to oversee construction of the restoration work by a local contractor this past summer.
