A large tidal marsh restoration project at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware is progressing according to schedule.
Located along the marshes of the western Delaware Bay, Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge protects more than 10,000 acres of valuable coastal habitat.
During severe storms, most notably Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the dunes along the beach were breached, causing salt water inundation, beach erosion and flooding.
This Amec Foster Wheeler’s video shows how the onsite engineer Paul Parkinson and the project team are working on a $17 million design-build contract to help restore thousands of acres of the damaged tidal salt marsh primarily through dredging, planting and invasive species management.
Two Ellicott 460SL dredgers are currently being used in this coastal restoration scheme.
