The Hilton Head Island’s contractor, Weeks Marine, Inc. will continue with pre-construction activities associated with the upcoming beachfill project which is expected to start by March 15, 2016.
Rafts of submerged pipeline will be delivered to local waters in upcoming days, the Town of Hilton Head Island stated in its latest announcement.
These sections of pipeline will be submerged and stored temporarily on both sides of Calibogue Sound.
The 2016 beachfill scheme of the Atlantic oceanfront shoreline is expected to be similar to the projects conducted in 1990, 1997 and 2006.

As with previous projects, the nourishment sand will be excavated by hydraulic dredge from two offshore shoal features.
