Opotiki District Council has invited bidders to submit their offers for undertaking geotechnical investigations and producing a factual report in the surf zone of the Opotiki Harbor Development project.
The scope of works includes drilling and testing of sediments with drill holes and cone penetrometer tests up to 30 meters in depth below the seabed.
The factual report is required to provide information for the design of training walls, in particular foundations, and to enable dredging operations to be planned.
A minimum of 12 rotary cored bores and 20 CPT tests are required over an area approximately 400 m x 180 m.
The deadline for this tender is Tuesday, 7 June 2016.
Opotiki Harbor Development
The harbor development scheme, which will ensure a minimum channel depth of about 4 meters, will create 24/7 access to the harbor for larger vessels, allowing Opotiki to become a service and processing base for the aquaculture industry and other marine related industries.
Following an extraordinary meeting of Opotiki District Council earlier this week, the Opotiki Mayor John Forbes announced the final two successful applicants who will be entering the competitive design and construction phase for the Opotiki Harbor.
Groupings headed by Brian Perry Civil and HEB Construction have been invited to continue to the next stage of the process before a final design and construction contract could be signed with the successful party in 2017.
