A presentation on the assessment of coastal erosion, flooding, storm damage patterns and recommendations regarding shore protection alternatives for each section of the Scituate coast will be introduced in the following days.

The public meeting regarding the matter will take place on June 7th at the Scituate High School, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Town of Scituate said in its latest announcement.

“This is a big deal, and the residents will want to come to this, because it’s what the scientists and engineers say is the best option for each specific area, ” said Nancy Durfee, Scituate’s coastal resource officer.

“It’s huge because everyone is invested in their homes and emotional about where they live and what will happen.”

At the meeting, John Ramsey, Principle Coastal Engineer from Applied Coastal Research and Engineering, will present different shore protection options to achieve the long term coastal sustainability goals of the Town.

A range of shore protection options will be presented for each study area including costs, benefits, disadvantages and challenges.
