GEI Consultants, Inc., a geotechnical, environmental and ecological science and engineering company, announced yesterday that Bourne Consulting Engineers (BCE), a coastal and waterfront engineering firm, has joined their team.

The deal closed on May 27, 2016. BCE will continue to service clients and conduct business out of their Franklin, Massachusetts office.

BCE, founded in 1991 by Ron Bourne, provides waterfront engineering services, including investigation, planning, regulatory approvals/permitting, design and construction oversight for a variety of structures, including piers, wharfs, bulkheads, ferry terminals, shore protection and dredging.

GEI President Raymond Hart emphasized that “ the addition of BCE strengthens GEI’s coastal and waterfront engineering practice and further diversifies GEI’s services. We anticipate a significant amount of waterfront work will be required over the next 20 to 50 years to prepare for climate change and sea level rise.”

BCE currently employs 12 staff from their Franklin, Massachusetts office, while GEI employs more than 700 staff across the nation.
