SCOPAC – an influential network of local authorities and other key organisations – was established in 1986 with the role to assist members in developing a coordinated and sustainable approach to coastal risk management by commissioning research and sharing information.

Bournemouth Borough Council was the organizer of this field visit, where they presented the latest developments on the scheme and the recent landslide to the SCOPAC members.

The program of works for the Bournemouth scheme runs from 2015 to 2032 and will:

The cost of phase one (2015-2020) is £17.5 million approximately. The total cost of the entire project (phases 1 – 3) is £50 million approximately, with the majority funded by the Environment Agency and a small proportion by the Council.
