FSUE “Rosmorport” new trailing suction hopper dredger, the Severnaya Dvina, has arrived at the Damen Shiprepair yard in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, following a two month journey from Vietnam.
The vessel – built by Damen’s Song Thu Corporation shipyard in Da Nang – will now undergo final testing and outfighting ahead of the delivery ceremony set for late June.
Fitted with a complete Damen Dredging Equipment dredge and instrumentation package, the vessel is designed for efficient operation and ease of maintenance, including a Ø600 mm trailing pipe and hydraulic winches, a low pressure Damen inboard dredge pump for the most efficient hopper loading process, telescopic overflow and 5 rod-actuated bottom doors.
According to Project Manager, Harrold van Vliet , “ Damen tailored the Severnaya Dvina design to meet the high specifications required to operate the vessels in the severe weather conditions of Russia’s northern region, with air temperatures ranging from -30°C to +40°C. ”
Following the delivery, the Severnaya Dvina will maintain navigational depths and provide safe shipping in the Arkhangelsk Seaport basin.
