The dredging works at Ludington’s harbor in western Michigan are scheduled to begin this week.

MCM Marine has a contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the work and plans dredging 24 hours a day for about 20 days until the project is wrapped up, according to the Ludington Daily News.

These cleanup operations, set to start this Friday, will be conducted in an area of Lake Michigan west of the harbor’s north and south breakwaters.

Ludington City Manager, John Shay, said that the dredged sediment will be deposited in about 15 feet of water about a mile south of the south breakwater in the area of the Buttersville Peninsula.
