Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Joanna Gash has welcomed an announcement from Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull that the re-elected government will provide $790,000 to construct 21 new berths at Ulladulla Harbor.

The new marine berths form part of Council’s proposal to develop the Ulladulla Harbor as a tourism and recreational destination while enhancing its role as a working harbor.

Mayor Joanna Gash welcomed the funding commitment, describing it as a tremendous show of support for both the local community and the wider Shoalhaven area.

“ Once constructed, the proposed berthing facility at Ulladulla Harbor will deliver jobs and further economic growth to the region, as well as provide a quality tourist attraction ,” said Clr Gash.

“ The removal of a rock shelf and dredging needs to take place prior to the construction of the 21 berths. The NSW State Government has committed $400,000 to the project and this will used to excavate and dredge the proposed site. These works are scheduled to take place over the next few months, ” added Clr Gash.

According to Clr Gash, the Council has already undertaken a number of projects to enhance the harbor foreshore and surrounding areas, including the construction of walkways and viewing platforms, replacement of the boat ramp with a pontoon and foreshore beautification works.

Mayor Gash also said that another key component of Council’s plan for Ulladulla Harbor is to increase linkages between the harbor and the town center.
