The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, is working on a maintenance dredging project that will deepen portions of the Hudson River, NY City to Waterford, New York.
According to the FedBizOpps , the Corps’ New York District will soon issue an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for award of a firm-fixed price construction contract for maintenance dredging of the Hudson River, NY City to Waterford, New York.
The proposed maintenance dredging will require removal of approximately 100,000 cubic yards of critical shoals from the Port of Albany Turning Basin and Staats Point dredge areas.
Dredging would be required to a depth of -32 feet COE Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) project datum plus 1 foot allowable overdepth. The dredged material is expected to consist primarily of silt, clay and fine sands.
The notice also said that the dredging requires the use of a mechanical dredge with a closed clamshell environmental bucket. The contractor may also require the use of hopper barges, tug boat(s) and attendant plant to perform dredging, transport and unloading/placement operations.
Detailed plans and specifications for the proposed project, estimated to be worth between $5 – $10 million, will be available 23 June 2016, with the bid opening on/about 23 July 2016.
The government plans to award the contract August 2016 and issue the NTP on/about 1 September 2016.
