Rohde Nielsen Bags Esbjerg Dredging Deal

Rohde Nielsen A/S, a Copenhagen based dredging contractor, has won the Port of Esbjerg dredging project.

The contract, worth around $9 million, involves removal of approximately 440,000 m³ of contaminated sediment from the port’s basins and the bedding area.

Around 250,000 m³ of material will be dumped at a designated areas in the North Sea, located up to 15 nautical miles from the port, and some 190,000 m³ of material is to be transferred to an approved landfill site.

Material for landfill is to be transported in barges to the East Harbor for transloading to trucks or shipped directly to the depot.

The thickness of the layer that will be removed from the harbor bottom varies from about 0.3 m to 4 m. According to the tender notice, the contractor will use a backhoe dredger in order to remove sediments from the area.
