The Port of Palm Beach Board of Commissioners last Thursday broke ground on the port’s latest infrastructure enhancement project, the construction of a mini-slip at its southernmost berth.

The project will add/replace 376 feet of seawall and accommodate vessels up to 300 feet in length.

Berth 17 Expansion and Infrastructure Improvement Project will include the demolition and removal of existing bulkhead, seawall construction along with utility, drainage and pavement improvements.

“ Over the past 12 months, the port saw over $5 billion worth of imported and exported product move through its piers. By continuously investing in infrastructure expansion and improvements such as Berth 17, the port enables local businesses the opportunity to increase capacities and revenues ,” said Port of Palm Beach Chairman Wayne M. Richards .

The project is to cost approximately $10 million.
