In an effort to find out why locals value their coastline, the City of Wanneroo has released a community survey that will help inform decisions on coastal hazard risk management.

Mayor Tracey Roberts said that the survey results would help develop a strategy to help protect the City’s coastline.

The City completed part one of the Coastal Hazard Risk Management and Adaptation Plan (CHRMAP) study in 2015 which investigated the potential future impacts of climate change along the coastline.

It identified a number of assets that may be vulnerable to coastal erosion within the next 35 years.

Part two of the study will involve assessing the risk and developing an adaptation plan to manage potential sea level rise and associated coastal erosion.

The City has engaged coastal management consultants Cardno to assist in this process.

The online survey will be open until 19 August 2016.
