The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, has just announced the latest update on their navigational dredging project within Oceanside Harbor, CA.
The contractor, CJW Construction, removed about 7,000 cubic yards of material from the harbor’s entrance channels during this week, the USACE said.
Since operations began on June 6, CJW has intermittently suspended operations because of adverse ocean conditions.
To date, CJW has dredged about 75,800 cubic yards of the 260,000 cubic yards designated for removal.
Material dredged from the entrance channels is being placed along Oceanside’s beach, currently at a location about 500 feet north of the Surfrider turnaround.
CJW anticipates this activity to continue until July 29, at which point they will extend the pipe south the final 2,000 feet to place material near the pier and lifeguard headquarters.
