The Government of Canada has just announced a major investment in Small Craft Harbors Infrastructure in the Province of New Brunswick.
With more than 76,000 Canadians employed in this sector, the Government is making investments that will continue to support the growth of this industry and provide economic opportunities for middle-class Canadians.
The announcement was made yesterday by Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, Member of Parliament, Beauséjour, saying that the Government of Canada is investing $44 million this year to carry out major improvement projects at more than 30 small craft harbors in New Brunswick.
$5.5 million of this funding will be invested at ten local harbors in the south-east part of the province. Three of these harbors will see their investment extend into future years for an additional $2.4 million.
As part of this investment, the two marginal wharves and launching ramp at Petit-Cap will be reconstructed. This work, which is expected to be completed by the summer of 2017, will provide a safe working environment for harbor users over the long term.
