A construction tug and barge, involved in a grounding incident at the Port of Port Hedland early this morning, have both now been refloated, according to the Pilbara Ports Authority.

The vessels, involved in the Hunt Point tug haven dredging works, were refloated at high tide at 11.30 am (AWST), and are currently secure at the Hunt Point tug haven construction area.

There were no reported injuries or environmental impacts arising from the refloat operation.

An investigation into the cause of the incident and any potential procedural improvements will be undertaken in the coming days.

The Pilbara Ports Authority said that the shipping channel remains clear for vessels arriving and departing the inner harbor.
