Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed TD, yesterday launched new major marine project in Killybegs, Co. Donegal – the new Killybegs Small Craft Harbor.

“This new harbor, fully funded by the State, is a first class facility capable of accommodating 63 boats ranging up to 15 meters in length with one berth capable of accommodating larger vessels in excess of 20 meters long ,” said Minister Creed at the ceremony.

“This is great development for Killybegs Harbor and will complement the existing world class facilities in place for our large fishing vessels.”

Built at a cost of €2.9 million, this project included the provision and installation of steel tubular piles and floating breakwater pontoons, including associated connections and ancillaries.

ABCO, a marine specialist, mobilized their equipment and personnel to complete the works, including C57 Red Squirrel Jack Up Barge and Transfer Barge. All support work boats were also mobilized to support the piling operations.
