Last week, October 12-13, 2016, Royal IHC was the organizer of a dredging seminar in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
The first day focused on determining criteria for selecting dredging equipment and analyses of the cost per cubic meter. During an open discussion, solutions and criteria for financing dredging equipment were discussed.
Guest of honor Mr John Groffen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nigeria , opened the event by stating: “ This seminar aims to start a dialogue to identify local needs and the ways in which Dutch solutions can be used to fulfill them. I hope and trust that this event will be the next step forward in strengthening the partnership between the two countries. ”
The masterclass on day two focused on the latest developments in dredging technology, the benefits of project preparation, and the importance of maintenance strategies and training.
“ We can look back with pride on another successful IHC Dredging Seminar with high attendance and lively discussions ,” said IHC Area Sales Director Africa Rogier Kalis . “ With the seminar we aim to positively contribute to local capacity building and the further development of the indigenous Nigerian dredging sector.”
Attendees of the seminar included private dredging contractors, representatives of the public sector, consultants and bankers.
Industry guest speakers Mr Richardson Arigbodi, CEO Allianz Logistics Ltd and Dr Olumide Amos-Oluwole, CEO Shoreline Dredging & Oil Services Ltd, shared their perspectives on the local dredging market, with its opportunities and challenges.
Fellow guest speaker Mr Davide Bigolin, Technology & Quality Control Kiasma Group Srl, discussed the latest technical developments in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipelines.
