A ground-breaking ceremony for the new Phu Quoc International Passenger Port took place on November 20 in Duong Dong Town, Phu Quoc district, Vietnam.

The Kien Giang provincial People’s Committee and Truong Son Construction Corporation of the Ministry of National Defense hosted the ceremony.

The new cruise ship facility, built in Duong Dong Town – the island’s economic capital, will include construction of 120 meters of new pier and a new 850 meter long breakwater.

The port will occupy 180 hectares with 2.8 hectares allocated onshore for the passenger terminal and other buildings.

This new port will be designed to handle cruise liners carrying 5,000 to 6,000 visitors and 20,000 tonne cargo ships.

As one of the major infrastructure projects in the province, the Phu Quoc International Passenger Port is expected to stimulate tourism in the local economy.
