René Kolman, secretary general of the International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC), will be giving a presentation about the Ecosystem Services concept at the “World Ocean Council – Sustainable Ocean Summit 2016” next week in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The Ecosystem Services (ES) concept is much debated by scientists and researchers across the globe.

The theoretical importance of the ES concept has gained good recognition but the concept still needs to be applied in practice.

To proof the concept’s value and its practical use, it is necessary to apply it on real life examples.

The dredging industry is one of the first industries to have recognized the benefits of the ecosystem services approach in project evaluation and assessment.

The Sustainable Ocean Summit 2016, under the theme “Ocean 2030: Sustainable Development Goals and the Ocean Business Community”, will take place from November 30 – December 2, 2016 in Rotterdam.
