At the request of Mr. Graham McAllister, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore District’s Navigational Branch Chief, Ellicott Dredges recently hosted a facility tour and brief presentation of their various capabilities.

The tour included a walk-through of the Engineering Department and overview of the advanced engineering and design tools used by their multi-disciplined engineering staff.

There was also a dredge training demonstration on Ellicott’s simulator, followed by a presentation on Ellicott’s 130+ year history.

The primary highlight was the tour through the dredge production plant, which guided the group through the heavy machining and fabrication area, assembly bays, and finished at a recently completed 20” dredge (the new 2070 Dragon dredge), which is fully assembled and available to support many of the upcoming USACE projects.
