Dhaka WASA (Water Supply & Sewerage Authority) and Vitens Evides International (VEI) recently organized a close-out workshop for their two Water Operators Partnership projects: WOP and Urban Dredging Demonstration Project (UDDP).

The workshop was held in presence of DWASA, VEI, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh and other participant from many supporting partner organisations.

The two projects focused on providing technical support towards the improvement of operations and maintenance practices of the water utility DWASA as well as the extension of WASH services in Dhaka’s low income communities and demonstration of urban dredging technologies from the Netherlands.

The participants were very enthusiastic about the success of UDDP and the mechanical dredging methods demonstrated by the project, Dhaka WASA said.

The project showed that the new way of dredging was as well more effective as less costly compared with the traditional dredging methods used by DWASA.
