The City of North Myrtle Beach has just announced that the Cherry Grove canals dredging scheme will be paused during the holidays, from December 22-29.

Dredging operations, conducted by Orion Marine’s two dredgers, are projected to resume on December 30 or 31.

“Some property owners along the canals to be dredged should be on the lookout for a letter from the City advising them that their floating docks may be in the dredge path or close enough to it that they could be impacted by the dredging ,” the City said in its latest announcement.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the City is notifying those dock owners so that they have the opportunity to move their floating docks out of the way.”

Because each channel is a bit different, it is challenging to project with any certainty when the dredge will reach a given channel but the dredge is projected to reach Channel “M” around January 6 and Channel “N” around January 13, the City reported.

The current plan calls for dredging from 7am-7pm daily, but this could change if circumstances develop that require a longer working schedule.

The project schedule anticipates that the works will last no later than April 2017.
