The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in cooperation with the Lower Platte South Natural Resources District and the City of Lincoln, will hold an open house on January 17, 2017 to provide area residents and businesses with an update on the Deadman’s Run flood risk feasibility study.
The meeting will take place at the Nebraska Educational Telecommunications (NET) Center in Lincoln.
There will be a brief, formal presentation at 7:00 p.m., the USACE said in the announcement.
“Since initiating this study in 2015, we have considered input gathered at previous public meetings and worked closely with our sponsors, the Lower Platte South NRD and the City of Lincoln, to develop a solution to reduce flood impacts to life safety and property along Deadman’s Run and the surrounding community,” said Jeff Bohlken, project manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
“This open house allows us the opportunity to share with the public where we are at in the study process including an update on the alternatives that were considered and the preliminary preferred alternative.”
The purpose of the Deadman’s Run feasibility study is to identify the potential for developing flood risk management solutions, which could be structural and nonstructural, that are beneficial to the public, economically viable and environmentally acceptable in this highly urbanized area, the USACE said.
