Howard County Department of Public Works (DPW) has just announced that it will hold a public meeting with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Wednesday, January 18.

The meeting will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Columbia/Ellicott City Room of the George Howard Building.

In response to the July 2016 flood in Ellicott City, USACE will discuss a scheduled flood proofing assessment and share potential flood proofing actions with property owners.

The first hour of the meeting will feature a presentation by USACE on the nature and schedule of upcoming field studies and describe the next steps in the assessment study, including time for audience questions.

The second hour will offer a live webinar conducted by the USACE National Flood Proofing Team, with a more general discussion of some possible measures that individual property owners can take.

USACE staff and DPW staff will be on hand to discuss the study and answer any questions.
