The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, will be conducting repairs on a section of the Lightning Creek Levee in Clark Fork, Idaho, beginning January 17, 2017.
The USACE officials will restore two sections of the levee that were damaged during flood events in December, 2015. The damaged sites are adjacent to the repairs constructed in 2008.
Construction is estimated to cost $452,000 and is expected to take about four weeks.
The purpose of the project is to restore the pre-damaged level of flood protection to protect lives and property from subsequent flooding.
In its current damaged condition, the levee would protect the city from a 1-year-return-interval flood event.
The project will return the levee to 100-year average return interval of protection for the community of Clark Fork.
