Marinex Construction, a Charleston based marine construction company, has just won a $16.3 million contract for the Savannah inner harbor maintenance dredging project.
The work is located in Savannah (GA), on the border of Georgia and South Carolina, in Chatham County.
According to the Department of Defense, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District is the contracting activity.
The contract will provide construction services, including furnishing personnel, transportation, mobilization and demobilization, equipment and materials required in connection with maintenance dredging, Reported the DOD.
The project, traditionally performed with a hydraulic cutterhead dredge, has an estimated completion date of January 18, 2018.
Up to four million cubic yards of maintenance material is expected to be removed from the inner harbor.
