The dredging operations in Haddiscoe New Cut are set to take place from Monday, 13 February, until Friday, 31 March 2017, the Broads Authority informs.
“During this period the navigation channel will remain open, but dredging will be in operation between 08:00 and 16:00 daily, excluding weekends. During each period of operation delays of up to 2 hours may occur,” the Authority said in its announcement.
Outside of the hours of operation a minimum width of 26ft/8.0m will remain past the works equipment for the passage of vessels.
The Haddiscoe New Cut, managed by the Environment Agency, is a canal in the English county of Norfolk and in The Broads (part of the National Parks family).
The cut was conceived as a way to provide a more direct route from Lowestoft to Norwich, and was built as part of a larger scheme which included the linking of the River Waveney to Oulton Broad and Lake Lothing.
