Illinois-based Mid-America Dredging has won a $1 million contract for the Tulsa Port of Catoosa dredging project, the Tulsa World reports.

The contract was awarded by the City of Tulsa-Rogers County Port Authority at its January meeting.

According to the port operations manager, Brad Banks, the Catoosa dredging scheme is set to start by March 1 and be finished in 105 days, or the company must pay a penalty of $800 per day.

The main goal of this project is to remove silt build up in the channel, clearing it to a 12-foot depth, the Tulsa World informs.

The Tulsa Port of Catoosa is a combination of a multi-modal water transport complex and a 2,000-acre industrial park. The port has an economic impact of $300 million to Oklahoma and employs nearly 4,000 Oklahomans.
