The government undertaking named Dredging Corporation of India Ltd (DCI) has secured a contract for the Pussur Channel dredging project in Bangladesh.

This capital cleanup program, set to last 15 months, will include dredging operations in the areas from Mongla Port to Rampal Power Plant.

Under the agreement, DCI will remove around 3.88 million m³ of dredged material from the waterway, the company stated in its announcement.

The main goal of this scheme is to increase navigability of the outer bar area of the Pussur Channel and to facilitate entrance of larger vessels into Mongla Port area easily.

This dredging contract is the first international contract secured by DCI through the global competitive bidding.
